At 2347 hrs on 3/19/06 - Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at Wilhelm MHP located at. 6330 14 Street West. Within 5 minutes the first unit was on scene and operating. They found a single wide mobile home fully involved with fire. Firefighters initiated an exterior fire attack and had the situation under control in 10 minutes. The occupant of the home sustained burns on 16 percent of her body and was transported to Manatee Hospital and was then transferred to the burn unit at Tampa General Hospital. The fire completely destroyed the mobile home (lot 23) and damaged 2 vehicles . The mobile home next door(lot25) sustained exterior damage from radiant heat. A total loss to property and contents was estimated at $135,000.00. A total of 13 Fire Department Personnel were on scene. Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue provided mutual aid. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation which is listed as undetermined at this time.
