Fire destroys mobile home in Fairlane Acres

BRADENTON - A family's mobile home was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

Three fire trucks squeezed into the narrow lanes in Fairlane Acres, a mobile home park on 49th Avenue West, as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Fire officials are still investigating the cause, said Leigh Hollins, Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue's battalion chief.

No one was home when the fire started, and no one was hurt.

A couple and their 18-year-old daughter live in the home, said Jack Parsons, a relative who declined to name the residents. The family moved to Bradenton last year and had seen their home in Oregon burn down 17 years ago, he said.

"It's a shame," Parsons said of this fire. "There's nothing in there that sounds like it could cause it. You can only guess."

They were visiting him at his house when the fire started, Parsons said, and came home to see firefighters surrounding the place.
