Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue and Manatee County EMS units responded to a duplex fire at 5016 18th Street West in Bradenton at 6:26 am.

A total of four engines, a Battalion Chief, and two EMS ambulances responded. Emergency units arrived three minutes after dispatch at 6:29 am. First in units found heavy smoke and flames from the front of the structure. No one was reported inside the structure. Fire attack and search and rescue operations were conducted and the fire was brought under control at 6:53 am. One female child and one adult male were evaluated by EMS. Neither was transported to area hospitals. Two adults and two children from the
residence were provided assistance from Red Cross. Damage to the structure was estimated at $250,000. Content loss inside the structure was estimated
at $25,000. Three vehicles in front of the structure sustained an estimated
damage of $25,000 total.

No firefighters or civilians were injured. Several family pet cats perished
in the fire. The cause of fire is under investigation.
