April 14, 2009 - Structure Fire
At 16:29 hours, Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue responded
to a reported structure fire at 7225 Alderwood Drive West. First
unit arrived on scene within 4 minutes finding heavy smoke and fire
showing from the attic area above the garage of a single family
residence. The fire was extinguished and under control within 15
minutes. Cedar Hammock responded with a total of 4 fire engines (1
engine from SMFR mutual aid), a Battalion Chief, and staff members
with a total of 17 personnel. The residence was vacant at the time
of the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was
determined to be from a lightning strike. The building's estimated
value was $250,000 with approximately $70,000 in damage reported .
